Infants Visit Hamsterley Forest
As part of their science topic on plants, animals and habitats, the infants visited Hamsterley Forest. During the morning, they hunted for plant matter on the forest floor then sorted it into flowers, leaves and seeds. The children then used their collections to create artwork using cotton cloths and hammers.

Later, the children thought about the forest as a habitat and considered which animals live there. They worked in groups to create shelters for various creatures, including an owl, fox, squirrel and badger. Through a team game, they also learnt that all plant and animal life require energy and that this energy is passed from one creature to the next up the food chain.
