Lunchtime

St Benet’s RC Primary School promotes a healthy lifestyle to all of our stakeholders. Our school cook, Andrea Layfield and her staff freshly prepare lunch daily on our premises every day. The cost is £11.50 per week for a two course meal including a drink. The menu is a three week cycle and is available from the school office or it is published in the Sunderland Echo every Saturday. Packed lunches from home are permitted in school. However, we ask that these include healthy foods, no sweets or fizzy drinks please. We also stress that hot food in flasks is not allowed as children find this hard to manage and if spilt could be dangerous.

If you wish to change your child’s lunch arrangements, please inform the school office at least two weeks prior to this change.

Payment for lunches can be sent into school each Monday morning or can be paid half termly in advance. You can pay by cash  or through our online payment system. The link for this is: www.sunderland.gov.uk – ‘Do it online’ and then follow the simple steps to make payment. More information relating to ePayments can be found here.

Please note that we are a nut-free school and we ask that parents/carers be aware of nut allergies. As some children in school have nut allergies we ask parents to refrain from including nuts or any nut products in lunches and snacks.

Fruit Scheme
Children in from Nursery up to Year 2 are offered a piece of fresh fruit every day as part of the Government Fruit Scheme.

Water
We encourage children to drink water throughout the school day and we encourage children to bring a named water bottle into school.
